About the HOH5K

Kroger’s Veterans ARG is comprised of Kroger Associates with military experience and those that wish to support veterans seeking to contribute to the improvement of the company and surrounding communities. On June 17, 2017, the Veterans ARG will host its 3rd Annual Honoring Our Heroes 5K.

We believe that we owe a debt of gratitude to our military veterans who have paid the ultimate price for our freedom and for those that are blessed to have returned home.  While there are many races that support national veteran’s organizations, we believe our race is an awesome opportunity for our customers and associates  to  celebrate the service of Veterans who reside in the local Cincinnati and Dayton surrounding areas of Kroger’s general offices and stores.

HOH5K Signature Event presented by Fountain of Health and Kroger

The group Friends In Service of Heroes (FISH) will be presenting a service dog as a surprise to a military veteran to help improve their quality of life for them and their family. Many returning military personnel and veterans face a myriad of challenges that can be aided with the use of a service dog, including Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), depression, immobility and inactivity.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, in 2014, about 3.4 million veterans had a service-connected disability. Service members and veterans are provided with highly specialized service dogs that help them find a new level of independence in their post-combat life.
